Filipinos have so many talents to showcase to the world. May it be acting, singing, dancing, modeling, or anything that you could possibly think of, I am sure that Philippines have that. The key to be good with one’s craft is willpower and enthusiasm and most of us have that. But sadly, because of mentality about competitions and stigmas that we are better than others, we fail to recognize and appreciate the million dollar talents that our fellowmen have. We only get to notice them when they get discovered by famous Hollywood superstars. Isn’t that a sad part for us?

That is the reason one of the most recognized music channel, not only in the Philippines but in the whole world came to initiate a contest solely for Filipinos so we can develop more our craft for singing and videography which we all want to showcase to the whole world. We are all creative in many ways. And that’s what MTV Emerge is for.

MTV Emerge is a platform for unsigned music talent in the Philippines to showcase their craft and passion for music in a genre they want (indie, rock, hip-hop, R&B, metal, solo artists, DJs, etc) and to be given an opportunity to win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music.

MTV Emerge is an MTV, Jeepney Music and Department of Tourism collaboration who not only aspire to look for for the newest unsigned music talent from all genres of music but also to provide an online music community where new music from the Philippines can be discovered. Isn’t that great?

I would like to encourage everyone to cast off a vote because basically this is more than just a competition. This program does not only intend to give away music contract but this will also allow us to create a mark in the world’s music industry. Who knows who’ll be the next music icon, right? And to show my support for this very good cause, I casted a vote for KaDa for their song What Happened. You might want to check them as well. I voted for them because I’ve found the song in touch with reality and having such a great melody while conveying the message of the song is pretty amazing. I still find alternative music a fabulous one.
